​With the church gate behind you, turn right. Cross the footbridge to the SE of the churchyard, called Dalicar Bridge on the map. Go to the right along the river to a small gate and then uphill through a larger gate and straight on till you reach a stile. *Go over this stile (DO NOT go through the nearby gate). Follow the path straight ahead till you reach another farm gate to the left of a large barn. This is clearly waymarked and takes you through a field in front of the barns of Sunny Bank Farm.

Follow the waymarkers - keeping in a directon going South.
Follow a small stream to a gate and go downhill to cross another stream. Head straight ahead up hill and then bear left towards a hillock. You will see a gate ahead with a SAPT waymarker. Go through this gate near the farm buildings and follow the path indicator to the right.*
Go steeply uphill and bear right on the waymarked path till you reach a track where you turn left and continue to the road at Murton Grange.

Cross the road and take the road opposite for almost 2 miles- past Murton Grange, through Caydale, passing Caydale Mill on your left at the ford and uphill to Old Byland. Bear left, then right to the village green and All Saints Church which is behind the Rectory in the NE corner.
